Late Lunch at Coffee Matters Downtown :)

4/4/2018

When we are out and about in the downtown area we often pop into Coffee Matters for lunch. Great sandwiches and soups! Dropped in Sunday and managed to grab a table; often they are very busy during lunchtime and there may be no tables available. Hubby ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Pesto Sandwich, without cheese (sorry no pic) and I ordered the Cran-Apple Chicken Salsa Sandwich, without cheese. Sandwiches come with homemade potato chips, yummy :)

The Stone Jug!

Finally tried The Stone Jug in Carbonear and so glad we did :)

First of all the building is beautiful. Take the time to check out all three levels. The first level is the main restaurant, with 2 other levels, for functions I believe.  Some beautiful craftsmanship seen in the details of this space. Pictures don't do it justice.
The food was very good as was the service. They were pretty busy for an early Friday evening (during Easter weekend) but the service was on point.
I had a Murphy's Stout on tap :) Lovely! I ordered the oven baked cod with panko, baked wedge fries, tartar, and coleslaw. It was all excellent but I would probably order roasted potatoes next time over wedges, mainly due to personal preference. Hubby had a halibut special that came with roasted potatoes and veggies. His was great as well. We even tried a dessert; the blueberry and chocolate bread pudding. This was excellent. A very nice, tasty and moist bread pudding. My only qualm was the caramel sauce drizzled on the plate was being soaked up by a paper napkin. I assume the napkin kept the dish from sliding around the serving plate but I would have loved to mop up all that great caramel sauce.
We really enjoyed this visit and look forward to going again soon. I would like to mention; I don't think this restaurant uses or has a deep-fryer on site. So keep in mind no regular fries. Nothing on the menu, that I noticed, is deep-fried which is a nice change.

My name is Michelle and I am tired of struggling with my weight. I am stopping the struggle.
This blog began several years ago as a healthy lifestyle change (really, diets in disguise if I'm being totally honest). Now it is evolving into a non-diet blog and that makes me extremely happy.
I have recently started this new way of thinking. There have been some bumps in the road, it hasn't been easy, I still question, but I am still learning.
If you struggle with weight and have issues with food and body image than join me on my journey. Hopefully we can learn together :)
