Myself and Hubby are starting our 100 day real food challenge on Sunday. As I have said before, it will not be easy but I believe the key is being prepared. There is nothing worse then getting really hungry and having nothing on-hand to eat that is healthy. It may be more work but I think the benefits will far out weigh the time and effort that will go into it.
Some early preparations include:
1. Trying out some recipes before we start to see what we liked and wanted to be making from scratch.
2. Making a meal plan for the week and a grocery list from that plan.
3. Browsing real food and clean eating websites to find ideas and recipes.
4. Making some recipes from the meal plan a few days in advance (I made strawberry jam yesterday, chili today and will freeze leftovers, bread and granola tomorrow.
We are actually looking forward to starting on Sunday, even Hubby, even though he's not looking forward to no white sugar in his tea.
Note:
For people living in St. John's or Conception Bay South: I found organic natural cream for coffee. It wasn't easy. As I posted earlier, Scotsburn and Central Dairies coffee cream and blend cream have additional ingredients besides cream, one of which is dextrose (sugar). I know Organic Meadows cream is suppose to be just cream but I am having trouble finding it in the grocery stores. Liberte cream has 1 ingredient - cream and it's organic :)
