Today I had 2 of my nephews come by unexpectedly at 12:00 for several hours. They arrived hungry, of course, little boys seem to always be hungry. So, now what do I feed two young boys? I don't have any frozen kids foods such as pizza, fries or nuggets or anything with sugar; and one boy has nut allergies so nothing with nut butters, nuts or may have come into contact with any nuts. My planned lunch was veggie fajitas and I figured with all the veggies they wouldn't go over well. So they ended having scrambled eggs with homemade whole wheat bread and homemade strawberry jam. Carter (who is 7) told me that my jam was excellent, it is the best jam ever and he would like to have some at his house. So after lunch we decide to make some jam. Blueberry won the vote. Jam is now cooling on the counter :)

While we wait for the jam to cool we decided to watch a movie. The boys ate some apples, since they were hungry again, and then we had popcorn with real butter for the movie. I tried the brown bag microwave method for the first time. It worked pretty good. The directions online recommended 1/2 a cup of popcorn kernels in the bag but it was too much. I had to stop the popcorn early because the bag was too full, coming open on top and the bottom was starting to break through. So note for next time, maybe 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels.

We ended the day with a couple of games of Snakes and Ladders. Overall the day went well and I think they are happy and well-fed, and that's what counts :)

My name is Michelle and I am tired of struggling with my weight. I am stopping the struggle.
This blog began several years ago as a healthy lifestyle change (really, diets in disguise if I'm being totally honest). Now it is evolving into a non-diet blog and that makes me extremely happy.
I have recently started this new way of thinking. There have been some bumps in the road, it hasn't been easy, I still question, but I am still learning.
If you struggle with weight and have issues with food and body image than join me on my journey. Hopefully we can learn together :)
