My Story
I am a teacher from Newfoundland, Canada (we often call it "The Rock"). I have constantly struggled with my weight since high school. I have tried every diet and program out there. When I was younger I would lose the weight just to put it and more back on later down the road. Now that I'm older I can't seem to even lose it anymore, and am slowly creeping up the scales. I am at my heaviest and not feeling great. I'm tired of feeling tired and unwell and believe a lot of this comes from not only my weight but also my food choices.
Lately I have been following a blog http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/ that I have found very interesting. I never liked diet plans that restricted what was considered healthy foods. Diets that tell me not to eat bananas, potatoes, corn, bread, carbs, dairy, fruit, sugar, egg yolks, or fat sends up red flags for me. I really don't think that eating bananas is what is packing on the pounds.
Myself and Hubby eat pretty well but we have a lot of room for improvement. We only buy whole wheat breads and pasta, brown rice, and skim milk (which I hardly drink anymore due to lactose issues). We do eat too many processed "foods" and eat out in restaurants A LOT. After looking at the 100days site I realized we were eating much more foods with additives then I realized. Who would have thought there was added sugar in my coffee cream and my table salt, but there is.
As a New Year's Resolution, myself and Hubby are trying the 100 day real food challenge. We are doing it to become healthier, make better and smarted food choices, and I am hoping to drop some weight in a healthy way that will last.
