Made Egg Roll Stir-Fry tonight using local cabbage, carrots, and onions :) It was yummy! That's two nights cooking in a row; may need a break tomorrow night ;) lol

Picked up tons of local veggies from the Farmers' Market (all from Coates' Farm) & Lester's! Wanted to roast them but wasn't in the mood to have meat with it. Figured just veggies wouldn't be enough for supper so did brown rice and chickpeas as well and made my version of a rice bowl. Hubby thought it was a weird combination but it was still good :) I roasted red potatoes, red onion, multi-coloured carrots, & golden beets; all from Coates' Farm. I also roasted garlic from Lester's as well as boiled some fresh corn. There was also sweet potato, but not local.
It all turned out really good! I can cook it just doesn't seem like it lately with all the restaurant posts :) lol.
I did a cooked chicken dinner today! Local chicken from Oliver's Farm I got from the Farmers' Market. Local potatoes, carrot, turnip, and onion as well from Coates' Farm (also bought at the Market). Made dressing and gravy to top it off. Yum yum! Had a great day Saturday! Went to the Farmer's Market, did a bunch of church tours for doors open, grabbed a coffee at Coffee Matters, ran errands, and grabbed a late lunch at YellowBelly :) I decided to try something different and had the Eggplant Parmesan Burger with Caesar Salad. The burger was really good! I would recommend it for sure. Hubby had their Turkey Burger with House Salad. He really enjoys the turkey burger there; it was the main reason for going there today. It seems if I take the food pics with my new phone they won't rotate when posted. They rotate to view properly on my computer but not when posting; strange. Sometimes I wish I was a little more tech savvy.
Took my Mom and Aunt to Get Stuffed for a birthday meal last night! A great meal and evening as usual :)
We started with drinks; The Lemarchant Punch Bowl. My favorite drink there. You have to try it! No apps tonight. Mains were the Stuffed Pork from their regular menu (three people had this same main) and a Pasta Special with beef and chilies and pesto. The pork is mine and Mom's favorite meal there. It's a stuffed pork tenderloin, stuffed with a dressing using dates, and sliced up and served with an Au Jus. We ordered the Mashed Potato and Grilled Bread as sides. Sides are ordered separate here for most dishes. Everything was delicious. Hubby had the pasta and thought it was excellent; he is a homemade pasta nut. For dessert we tried the Bourbon Bread Pudding. This is made with a croissant in place of bread. Need I say more? It was fantastic! Almost forgot to get a dessert pic, I remembered part way through so it does come out nicer looking then what I have shown here :) Finally tried the new plant-based restaurant, "The Green Kitchen", this week! It was really good. We went with a couple of friends, one who is vegan, and everyone enjoyed their meals!
To start we had the Cauliflower "wings", with sweet chili sauce. These were delicious! The best cauliflower wings I've ever had. Even Hubby really enjoyed them. Even if you're not vegan these are still a must try. With four of us ordering we had a nice range of meals to comment on and show pics for :) I ordered the Hearty Burger with Fries. This was a great and filling meal. The patty is a sweet potato patty so not resembling an actual burger at all if that's what you are going for. Tasty in it's own right though with lettuce, tomato and avocado. It also had a c. Hubby had the Pulled "Pork" sandwich made with jack-fruit with a side Cesar salad; all 100% vegan. He enjoyed his meal as well but absolutely loved the sandwich. He said he would go back again just for that sandwich :) Our friends ordered a Power Bowl and the Ruben Sandwich with a side salad. All the meals were enjoyed. Service was very good as well. Plan to go back again soon and try another vegan dish :) It may not seem like it lately but I do cook :) This blog seems to slowly be changing into a restaurant review blog instead of a simple what to eat and feel great blog. No worries, it's still all good :)
I did cook a couple of meals so far this week. Got lots of local veggies from the Farmer's Market. Made a giant Veggie Stir-Fry with Rice one night and last night just threw together a bunch of things to make a kind of Rice Bowl (although it was actually a Rice Plate for us, lol) :) A couple of the veggies are not local but overall most were! Another wonderful meal at Vio's Bistro for Pasta night! Started with an excellent Strawberry Daiquiri :) Had trouble deciding which pasta to order tonight as so many sounded so good. I ended up getting the Chicken Francese and Hubby got the Penne Arribiatta (again) :) Both meals were fantastic as usual! Why oh why will my menu pics never show the right way?
It's pasta night again! Woohoo! Another great meal at Vio's Bistro in Kelligrews! Sunday and Wednesday evenings are pasta nights. Two great pasta dishes for $29.99 :) Hubby had the Primavera dish this evening. He really enjoyed it. Lots of veggies and a lovely sweet tomato sauce. If you like a sweeter pasta dish or want a vegetarian option this pasta would be a great option :) I tried the Lemon Chicken Linguine. This was a dish on last weeks pasta menu as well, so it must be good, I figured I had to try it. So glad I did! It was fantastic. A beautiful and tasty cream sauce with just enough lemon to make it wonderful. I'm not even a huge broccoli fan but this dish was still great :) Sorry again about the sideways picture. Not sure what is going on here as it's right side up in my pics.
If you haven't eaten at Vio's Bistro yet you need to give it a try. A great restaurant on the Shore! Another great meal and great service at The Peaceful Loft, downtown! We had green tea, soup of the day, and a variety of house-made dips to start; this comes out when you sit. We ordered the same as always; Singapore style noodles (no spicy), BBQ Fried Rice, and a Peaceful Roll. Yummy! May get adventurous and try something different soon but these dishes are just so great!
