The Peaceful Loft! We were lucky to get in :)

We had play tickets (Noises Off, a great play, you should see it) for Thursday evening; therefore we decided to go out to eat before the show. We originally decided on Bernard Stanley due to it's close proximity to the theater and its great food and service. Unfortunately they were full and the wait for a table was too long to be able to make our showtime. Next we decided to try The Peaceful Loft; again close proximity and great food and service. We were very lucky. They were full as well, but we managed to snag the last table :) Yay!

This is  a vegan Chinese restaurant and we love it! The food is always great and the service is just lovely. It is run by a sweet couple and they are the only employees; he serves and deals with the customers while she cooks :)

We ordered the Peaceful Roll, the Singapore Noodles (less spicy) and the BBQ Rice. Everything was delicious! We split everything between two and I still managed to take a little home to have for lunch today :) Bonus! We also got a couple of authentic candies at the end; these are delicious as well :)

Made my Mediterranean Pasta dish from before but left the shrimp out. Still just as good :) One of my new favorite meals. Tastes great and not too much hassle.

Made Trout Tacos!

We were lucky to get a few feeds of fresh trout from my Dad and decided to make some trout tacos for a change. They turned out excellent! Hubby fried the trout in a little oil and homemade taco seasoning and crumbled it up. He made simple homemade pico de gallo (chopped tomato, chopped onion, lime juice, and cilantro). Had them with avocado on corn tortillas. So yummy!

Had my Mom and Dad up for dinner this weekend. We had lobsters, cooked some mussels in beer, and grilled both steak and halibut along with asparagus and corn. Also had grilled bread buns from Georgetown Bakery. Yummy meal!

Hubby finally tried the pasta at Piatto and enjoyed it :) He ordered the Spaghettini + Polpette All Italiana. Seems this is spaghetti and meatballs, lol. I ordered the only thing they have on the menu (in my opinion of course), The Stephanie pizza. Yummy!

Also had a great cappuccino with their tiramisu :) Still one of the best places to get a coffee downtown!

Chafe's Landing!

Went to Chafe's Landing for a late lunch/early supper on Sunday. Completely unplanned and unsure if we would get in as it was Mother's Day. We went around 3:00 and I think we lucked out. It was pretty full and very busy but we got a table :)

We have been here before but not for quite a while. It has been completely re-done and looks great! We sat upstairs, near the bar and next to live entertainment. Not too bad :)

I ordered the Fish & Chips. Yes, just a simple fee and chee, but oh so good. The fish is fantastic; crispy and light, fries are good, and gravy is yummy. Hubby had the Poached Cod and Salad. He enjoyed his as well but he really seemed to be eyeing my plate :) lol.

Funny, just checked out their Facebook page so I could tag the restaurant in this blog and saw a Mother's day drink pic that they posted. Myself and Hubby are in the background :) Too funny! Famous again!

Bernard Stanley for Brunch!

Sorry I'm posting late, but better late than never :)

Had brunch at Bernard Stanley over the weekend. We were lucky to get a table as it was the Saturday before Mother's Day and they were full and very busy. We were almost turned away but then got the very last table. Many others were turned away after us as they were full or reserved.

Ordered a Mimosa, they have a special for $4 mimosa so how could you not? lol. I was really in the mood for a good eggs benny so I ordered the Eggs Benny with Pork Belly; never a disappointment :) I had it with a side of fruit instead of the hash-browns though. The fruit is always really good there but today, sadly, it wasn't up to par :( A few of the berries were old and off. Hubby had the Fish Cakes and really liked them.

Sorry, late posting, but late is better than never :)

Took my Mom to an early Mother's Day dinner at Get Stuffed; one of our favorite places in St. John's :) Had drinks to start :) They make a great drink called The Lemarchant Punch Bowl; Yummy and highly recommended. Myself and Mom ordered the Stuffed Pork, which we usually get. It is delicious. So tender and tasty, comes stuffed with delicious dressing and served with au jus. Sides are separate. We ordered the mashed potatoes which is a fav and the grilled veggies. Great as always! Hubby had the Blackened Salmon with pineapple salsa and the grilled veggies. He also had an appetizer of Fish Soup, sorry forgot to get a pic. Myself and Mom were busy chatting and enjoying out cocktails :) Dessert was their Baked S'mores dessert. This is fantastic as well and is a usual for me :)

Still doing well with meal plans and cooking :) Tonight we had a chicken dinner :) So yummy and something I was craving a little. Roasted a chicken in the oven. Had it with mashed potatoes, carrots, and peas. Had packaged mushroom gravy as I can't make gravy to save my life; never could, sigh.

I have recently started this new way of thinking. There have been some bumps in the road, it hasn't been easy, I still question, but I am still learning.
